Conversation of the day

At lunch at work today:
Resident: "Lucy! Lucy! Lucy! Lucy!"
Me: "Yes?"
R: "Lucy!"
Me: "Yes?"
R: "Lucy!"
Me: "Yes? What do you need?"
R: "Lucy, do you have anything to go with coffee?"
Me: "A pumpkin bar."
R: "A what?"
Me: "A pumpkin bar."
R: "I don't know what that is."
Me: "It's like pumpkin bread."
R: "Oh. Do you have pumpkin bread?"
Me: "No, I have a pumpkin bar. It has frosting on it. But it's like pumpkin bread."
R: "Do you have pumpkin bread?"
Me: "Well, it's like pumpkin bread, but it's a bar."
R: "I don't know what that is."

Me: "It's like pumpkin bread. Why don't you just try it."
R: "Do you have pumpkin bread?"
Me: "Why don't you just try it?"

R: "I don't know what it is."
Me: "I'll go get it and you can try it."

R: "Oh."

So did she like the pumpkin bar, or did you have to make pumpkin bread?
Personally, I would have scraped off the frosting and told her it was bread.

I shared this story with Erma, and she asked why I told it to her.
"So you would know Lucy has frustrating days, too."
"Oh. I thought you were going to tell me how much the old lady reminded you of me."
"No. I only thought it."
