"hitting for the cycle" means they hit a single, a double, a triple, and a homerun (not necessarily in that order) all in one game.it's a rare feat.

In other words, he was awesome despite the pressure to1) complete the cycle2) hit a grand slam3) win the gameand he did it, because he's my 3rd hero.
