"buy 8 boxes of cereal, get one gallon of milk free" ok, i don't put milk on my cereal, so i guess i can't say for sure what the ratio is, but i'm pretty sure one gallon of milk isn't going to cut it if you're buying 8 boxes of cereal.
That's somewhat reminiscent (a word which here means similar to, but not the same) of "The Miserable Mill", where the mill workers got paid in coupons.

I just bought 4 boxes of cereal yesterday and felt self-conscious; I don't know if I could buy 8! (& like you said, what a... great... deal)
